Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship casino, features 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of comforts accompanying the gambling hall, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
