Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where casino wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that features a number of conveniences on top of the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
