The country, in common with many of the ex-USSR, has undergone something of a rapid adjustment to capitalistic system. The Wild East, you might say, to allude to the lawless ways of the Wild West an aeon and a half ago.
Kyrgyzstan’s casinos are in reality worth going to, therefore, as a bit of anthropological research, to see chips being wagered as a form of civil one-upmanship, the absolute consumption that Thorstein Veblen spoke about in 19th century u.s.a..
